Program
Day 1 (Friday) : Ngaoundéré
Breakfast, departure to the Benoué National Park.
Discover the vast valley crowded with hippopotamus [1], crocodiles, monkeys, birds, lions [2] and panthers.
Dinner and night at the Buffle noir camp.
Day 2 (Saturday) : Buffle noir-Rey Bouba-Garoua After breakfast, departure to Rey Bouba. This Muslim city is characterised by the palace of the Lamido, spiritual and temporal chiefs. Visit and continuation to Garoua.
Day 3 (Sunday) : Garoua-Maroua After breakfast, visit of Garoua: its big mosque, traditional quarters, an the artisanal centre. Continuation to Maroua via Pitoa, visit of the market. Dinner and night at a hotel.
Day 4 (Monday) : Maroua-Bogo-Maga-Pouss-Maroua Departure to Maga through Boyo. Lunch, continuation to Pouss, discovery of the huts of the Mousgoum people [3]. Dinner and night at the hotel.
Day 5 (Tuesday) : Maroua-Waza After breakfast, visit Waza National Park. All-day safari [4]. Dinner and night in the touristic village of Waza.
Day 6 (Wednesday) : Waza-Oudjilla-Koza-Rhumsiki Breakfast in the camp of Waza. Departure to Oudjilla: visit the chief with his 49 wives and so many children; lunch in the camp of OUDJILLA. On the way, traditional huts are seen on the peak of Matakam and on the valleys. Visit of the RHUMSIKI village, the crab sorcerer who will predict your future [6]! Night at the hotel.
Day 7 (Thursday) : Rhumsiki-Tourou-Mabas-Mokolo-Maroua After breakfast, visit of the market of Tourou, very traditional and colourful. Lunch, continuation in the direction of Mabas, a nice village situated at the Nigerian frontier. Visit of the museum of Mokolo. Continuation to Maroua, dinner and night.
Day 8 (Friday) : Maroua-Douala ou Yaoundé Visits of tanners [7], the artisanal centre for souvenirs. Return to Yaoundé, free time to transfer to the airport for final departure
NB: This Program is based of the week-end fares for flights to Maroua. Waza National Park is closed during the rainy season (from June of October).
